Climate, land structure of Tomohon City is very suitable for developing various agriculture potentials. Tomohon City is known as one of the vegetable producer (horticulture) which take the eastern part of Indonesia as its marketing zone. One of the agriculture potential developed by the inhabitants of Tomohon City since former times is ornamental plant cultivation (floriculture). The development of ornamental plant in Tomohon City happened not only because by some technical factors above, but also because the culture of their people that is well-known as ornamental plant farmer.
Based on the research result of BALITBANG Pengembangan Tanaman Hias Direktorat Tanaman Hias Departemen Pertanian RI explains that Tomohon City is located on the Wallace’s line which caused some specific variety of ornamental plant in Indonesia grows in Tomohon City.
